As the Coronavirus threat continues to disrupt businesses of all kinds, Harper Construction Recruitment Ltd is continuing to help with the construction sector’s long or short term staffing needs. Our current office set-up allows us to service any issues with staff you may come up against during this difficult time, and this will not change unless the Government’s lockdown measures become more severe.

The impact on the industry’s supply chain, consisting of multiple layers of businesses, many of them SMEs with a significant amount of self-employed workers, has been significant this year, and the major construction contractors have been spelling out the measures they have been introducing to make sure their sites continue to remain up and running. Mace, for example, is working on the Battersea Power Station redevelopment. Mace chief executive Mark Reynolds told Building that having to shut all its 90 sites in the UK because of the Coronavirus crisis would cost it £10m a week – five times the amount it had budgeted for over a no-deal Brexit. The country’s largest contractor Laing O’Rourke said “we have taken steps to minimise the number of people [on sites] in any location to complete work safely and be productive”. And Bam, whose jobs include a new headquarters building for Facebook at Argent’s King’s Cross site, said staff who work in offices have been asked not work on sites.

We have a database of over 60,000 construction workers covering the South West, South Wales and throughout the UK and we are continuing to supply high-quality construction workers on a next-day basis where possible. Please call us on 01275 873664 to discuss your trades and labour requirements or freelance/permanent managerial or technical staff.
